It doesn’t happen everyday. Since yesterday, we were showered with the beautiful wonders of nature in the night sky. And tonight was the last day to get the chance to see the annual Perseid Meteor Shower.
The Perseid meteor shower, like all meteor showers, happens when debris from a passing comet gets left behind in that object’s orbit around the sun. When Earth passes through the debris, tiny particles get incinerated in our atmosphere.
I have always loved stargazing even when I was still in the Philippines. Having mentioned that brings a lot of nice memories. Back in college, I’d stay up late on the phone with a pal to watch the sky at the same time even if he’s in some other place. Early 2000, another friend came along from the Netherlands who would stargaze with me. It has become my hobby back then. Since I got here, the only time I got to do it was when TS and I camped in grandpa’s place where there’s no city light to ruin a good and clear view of the night sky.
Tonight, TS and I walked by the dock and settle ourselves at the edge of it, laying down and stared at the night sky. It was an amazing sight! What makes it more wonderful is I get to spend quality time with TS, no words said, just laying there holding me in his arms. I must admit I missed these kind of moments too. I have been so busy with work and exhausted when I come home that I don’t get to do things like these.

I received a text message from one of my office friends last Friday that she got “the call”. The call that every variable employee doesn’t like to get. The call that you don’t expect and can’t have a hint of its coming. After that text message and confirming that she was serious about it, my other friend – Kyeela and I are starting to feel uneasy for we might get the same call.
Going to work last Monday was strange. Two of my work friends are no longer working with us. One was my donuts and BS buddy whom I enjoyed talking with just about anything and everything. Walking past his empty desk and seeing his empty coffee cup was just weird. Their absence not only made us sad but it also made us nervous that there might be a next cut.
Today, they got rid of four more people. And losing those four came into a shock not only to our team but also to the other teams that the four has provided support.
It now appears to me that it is just a matter of time that that they are going to get rid of us. Although I was assured by my supervisor and my other superiors that I got a safe spot at work, it doesn’t make me feel secure. For the first time, I feel like not wanting to go to work for the fear of receiving an email informing us that they let go of another person. Wooh! Scary!
I hate losing people. The happening just made me stress. Hopefully we can breathe better tomorrow without the fear of getting “the call” that like death, comes unexpectedly without a warning.

It has been awhile since I last made a post on this blog. I am still trying to juggle my time with work and the chores here at home. At the end of each day, my energy is drained and I needed to recuperate. I’ve been in a lot of adventures and I’ve got tons of stories to tell, I will have this blog eventually catch up to what has been going on with my life.
I will be making short posts not only about my personal happenings but also of what’s making the headlines and my opinions about other things. Furthermore, I will continue to post more about beautiful places and will be including pictures as I take my chance of being a shutterbug.
As you see… I’M BACK!

Whew! It has been a year since we moved up here in Minnesota. So far, everything turned out really well for us. I could just remember that our concern last year was how to move our stuff from Florida to here. We have compared various moving companies that can give us a good deal for a one-way trip. But in the end, TS ended up moving with his car and whatever things he can fit in his car. I on the other hand was trying to generate an income while having a vacation in the Netherlands.
Twelve months have passed and a lot of things happened. We stayed with TS’ uncle’s basement for 3 months. After that, we rented Nick’s (TS’ bestfriend) spare room. And 3 months later, we moved here in our place which doesn’t seem like a long time ago. The move to Minnesota was one of the good decisions we’ve done and it definitely worked out for us.

I have always wanted to go out. I’ve been asking TS to take me out dancing. I am not a big fan of exercise and for me, dancing is the great way for me to release the stresses and maybe my choice of work-out. Taking diet pills would be my last resort if I desire to lose those excess fats. For now, I will have to give dancing a try. I am looking into enrolling myself for a belly dancing lesson every Wednesdays after work. Morgan – my friend from work also recommended to do pole dancing which may look and sound easy but requires a total body strength.
If dancing doesn’t work, I will involve myself more in outdoor sports like tennis and mountain biking. Right now, I’m trying out what to wear on my first dancing night out! And look whose got a close eye at me.

Tomorrow is our potluck at work. It is also the birthday celebration of Rosee – my teammate and mentor. After work, we will be feasting on different kinds of food and then maybe decide where to go from there. We might be going to play pool or bowling depends on what ideas these guys will come up with.
I am lazy to prepare something to bring to the potluck. I was thinking bringing some pop but 2 people already pledged for it. So TS and I wen to Snyders to purchase couple bags of chips. While I’m there, I also bought new make-up for myself. Upon check-out, the person on the counter has a difficult time because the barcode scanners doesn’t seem to work. He has to manually encode each item. It was okay though since we are not in a hurry.
I’m sure many of you have attended a potluck. What do you usually bring? I’d like to fish out for more ideas so that on our next pot luck session, we will be able to bring something and maybe invest some time to prepare it. Any ideas?

I have been saving up to buy a nice Flat Panel Plasma TV for TS. It was suppose to be my Valentine’s gift for him. But before Valentine’s Day, he asked me for a grill which I readily purchased. It was a good buy and even though it was supposed to be my gift for him for Valentine’s, I still intend to buy him the Flat Panel TV that he always wanted. We have been looking out for good deals or a sale in retail stores online and offline.
I was so ready to buy it but yesterday morning, something unusual caught TS’ attention. He noticed that the data service in our phones are no longer working. He checked online to see what’s going on and found out that we got a $224 worth of overage. When he began tracing it, all of the overage charges lead to my phone. Instantly, I was on a defensive mode but when we checked on every detail of it, it came to our attention that my sister’s landline (the one that she’s been using to call me) was not the number that was registered on MyFaves.
I don’t want to give stress to TS and since it was my fault, I decided to simply pay the entire bill off. There goes our TV… at least a part of it. We will have to wait a little bit more to be able to buy the TV that he always wanted. It was frustrating but I always look at the positive side of it. I’m still blessed that this happened when I already got a job and can pay it off. God has still been very kind and good to us.
My day started right. I woke up early for our scheduled telephone conference with my Nanay and my sisters. We made it a point that on every Saturday morning, we will spare some time for us to keep updated especially that some of us have jobs and may not be in contact because of its demands. It is always nice to spend time and talk to my family. When I went to my desk, I found a bundle of tulips arranged in my crystal vase and in front of it is a package from Frederick’s of Hollywood. I was surprised and totally clueless.
After the conference, I then prepared some bacon, eggs and banana bread for TS’ breakfast in bed. I woke him up with a kiss and when I handed him what I prepared with my Valentine book for him, he told me that he is supposed to do it to me. Cougar jumped on top of the bed too. And like other breakfast in bed, I ended up sharing the food with him.

When I was at work yesterday, the atmosphere at work was just overwhelming. Lucky ladies get to show off their long-stemmed bunch of roses they get from their special someones. My supervisor gave me 3 pieces of heart chocolates not because it’s Valentines but because she always supplies us with it. I got a cute card and a peanut butter cup given by the daughter of one of my closest friends from work. That gesture made me smile and I put such precious thing in front of me in my computer so I get to see it once in a while and bring smile to my face.
I was on my way out and TS is waiting for me at the parking lot. I could not resist but tell one of the Loan Officers that she’s got a pretty bunch of flowers when I passed by cube and notice the beautiful white roses. As I continue to walk through the halls, many more ladies were carrying their baskets of flowers and or sweets. There was even someone who looks like she might need some weight loss pill got a handful of flowers of 2 different kinds while I only got my purse clutched in my hand and my Contigo Stainless Steel Vacuum Mug on the other. It lead me to ask, where are my flowers?

I have been working for 3 weeks now. Wow! Time sure flies so fast. But I still continue to take on the day to day challenges of my work. I can definitely say I am doing pretty fine. I was told by the seniors that I picked up pretty fast and is now doing what the people who are already there for 1 year are doing. It is these kind of remarks that inspire me and make me continue the good work that I have done.
It was on my 1st week that I was taught how to do faxes. It is something that I enjoy doing. I was glad to be assigned to do it coz it gives me more time off the phone. I must admit I am still not very confident on the phone and my English surely needs some sharpening.
