Every blogger’s nightmare is having an unreliable internet provider. Nowadays, no one has the patience to wait for dial-up connection and constant disconnection. On the other hand, every blogger’s dream is to own their own laptop for convenience and comfort of continuous blogging wherever they may be.

I have been detached from a personal mobile device for more than a year now. Last year, I just felt no need for one since I have my Voice Over Internet Provider (VOIP). We had our VOIP disconnected this year when I left for the Netherlands. When I came back, I started applying for jobs and recruiters would call me through Travis’ mobile. It was okay at first when Travis didn’t have work yet. But it is starting to be disappointing when Travis would get calls for me about jobs and I would only be able to call them back when TS is home from work which is usually when recruiters’ are out of the office as well.
Yesterday, we were both came into a decision that I need a phone. He asked me if I wanted a mobile phone or we’d simply get another VOIP. I weighed things and it turned out that I’m more inclined to get a mobile phone in case I might start a job, at least I have it with me all the time. I first considered of having a prepaid phone. Afterall, I won’t be using the phone that much unless I get calls or I need to call my prospect employers.

“Lots of bills to pay
I can’t help but stress each day
What else can I say?”
“Credit card maxed out
What I have to think about
Stay at home tonight”
Since I got here in the US, Travis and I were in a not so pleasant financial situation. Not only that we have expenses with my Immigration Application but he also took the risk of leaving his job to venture to a different place (warm for my sake) down south. Unfortunately, it also took him about five months to get a new one. He was in between jobs while were there since the jobs that he got are all contractual. Those were definitely one of our tough times.

Last night, I was very excited and eager to cook the Fried Chicken Recipe that I learned from my sister-Rema. The first thing I did in the morning was to get the chicken out of the freezer and had it thaw. I got all the seasonings ready and the bread crumbs in handy. I prepared the mashed potatoes with sour cream and chives ahead of time. That way, all my attention will be on my chicken dish.
I started season the chicken drumsticks with onion powder, garlic powder, Italian season, salt and pepper. It already looks good. I poured enough amount of flour inside a quart size Ziploc and added enough bread crumbs in the mixture. I started coating 1, 2 and 3 drumsticks and pan-fried. I noticed that even if I had the fire set to medium-high, the skin starts to burn slowly. So, I investigated and tasted it. To my astonishment, it tasted sweet and came to a conclusion that what I thought was flour turned out to be a confectioner’s sugar. I knew it right there and then that I burnt my reputation along with the chicken on fire.
If Gordon Ramsay was here, he would already be all over my face. I immediately corrected my actions by tossing the breading to the trash and made a new one with just bread crumbs. As for the chicken that has been cooked, I pierced each piece and fry them again to cook thoroughly. The second batch turned out better. But I should’ve used new cooking oil instead of just straining it. Another mistake made… but certainly lessons are learned.
I have had my setbacks in cooking. I’m not a chef but I can cook and I can innovate a little bit. According to TS, it’s not innovation it’s semi-following-the-recipe. Although Travis attempted to imitate Ramsay with his language and tone, he still enjoyed the chicken dish that for me tasted almost like “banana cue”. I love cooking because every time I cook, I learn something. I enjoy cooking because it is how I express myself. It is where I poured my love to those who are eating the food that I have prepared. Now, I just need my own kitchen. For I have just started and I will never stop improving my cooking skills even if Gordon Ramsay will yell, “shut it down!”.

Summer is about to end. I have noticed that the wind is colder than it used to. When the sun hides itself through the horizon, the temperature seems to drop on the double. This cold weather has reminded me of two things back home-Christmas and working at Convergys. Christmas is always associated with cold weather and thick sweatshirts. The same goes when I was working with Convergys. Working in the evening with the airconditioning unit at its maximum definitely makes us curl to ourselves.

I have finally declared myself a revolutionary after witnessing the Eco Experience at the State Fair yesterday. It was a different experience. It has strengthen the environmentalist in me after it was awaken by my sister-Rorie‘s post entitled Environmentalist Forever! The Eco Experience was definitely a one place to stop and learn more about adapting a “greener” lifestyle. There are exhibits of lush rain gardens, a cutting-edge eco home, and displays on renewable energy, organic products and services.
Being a revolutionary, I commit myself to use a “green” bag (non-plastic and non-paper bags) when I go to stores. Bringing my own bag helps me avoid bringing garbage in my home in the form of plastic or paper. This way, I won’t be concern on how and where to dispose them. Although, I must admit I still have those plastic bags but I am reusing them as garbage liners and such.
There are more ways to help our environment. You can find more at www.reduce.org and be a revolutionary yourself. This is just my first step and will continue to live a “greener” lifestyle. Reduce.org… if not you, then who?

It has been a month since the hurricane season has started. Tropical storms had paid their visits and they bring along with them water damage. After a long day of plugins search, email and instant message exchange with Plugin Authors and Theme Developers, I have finally resolved the issue. The case regarding instant replies is now closed. Little did I know that the Instant Reply feature is already built in to InfoCreek themes. They may have mentioned it in the ReadMe.txt but I didn’t bother reading it.
I finally had my eureka moment when I decided to deactivate the AJAX plugins that I have downloaded. Then I tried to submit a comment and voila!!! My comment was published instantly.
If your blogs doesn’t have this Instant Reply feature (I’m addressing this to wordpress users), I’m recommending you to download and install either of the plugins below:
So, there shouldn’t be any more concerns regarding replies and comments. If there’s anything else that you noticed, do let me know, will ya?
NEW!!! I have also added another feature in my blog – the Member’s section. Those who are registered members of my blog (not just the subscribed ones) will have their own Profile that shows their website, biographical info (if you filled it up), a list of their comments and your Uploaded Photo. This way, I can help promote your site to the other readers of my blog while keeping track of the comments that you have posted. For those who have not registered yet, it is never to late to jump in and be included in the directory. All you have to do is to click REGISTER at the Meta Widget located at the right side. Fill in the information needed and when you’re done, you will be able to see your Profile at the Member’s Directory page.
Enjoy browsing through my blog and keep coming back!

As you may have noticed and read in my previous post, I have updated my blog and switched to a new theme. Unfortunately, along with this transition, my AJAX Comments plugin doesn’t seem to work. This plugin posts comments quickly or instantly without leaving or refreshing the page. It used to work with my previous themes but on themes from Infocreek, it doesn’t seem to work.
Unlike before, you will not instantly see the comment or reply that you have made on my post. Don’t be alarmed. It is already a known glitch. You will need to refresh your browser to be able to see your posted comment. I am currently looking for ways to remedy it. Currently, I am looking for a similar plugin that will work with this theme. And I have also contacted the developers of the current theme that I’m using. So, please bear with me.

I have been making updates on my blog. Not only have I created new posts but I have also switched to a new theme. The new look is for the sake of novelty. I just thought that regular visitors of my site might want to view different colors for a change. This Notepad theme is designed by professionals from Infocreek which provides web development service and accepts customize web designs.
Aside from the new theme, I have also added a new plugin to my website. Subscribe2 provides a comprehensive subscription management and email notification system for WordPress blogs that sends email notifications to a list of subscribers when a new content is published to the blog. E-mail notifications will be sent per-post basis or periodically in a Digest email.
Those who have already subscribed to my blog…
Those who have not subscribed and wish to be updated and be informed if there’s a new post made in my blog, you have two ways to do it.
- You can Register by clicking it at the Meta Widget.
- You can simply type your email address at the Subscribe to my Blog section.
With this new update, you don’t have to come to my site every day to check if a new post has been made. I will send you an email as soon as a new post has been published. This way, you won’t miss a thing.
I have also enabled the Avatar option so that User photos may be displayed within a post or a comment to help identify the author. If you are a REGISTERED USER on my blog, you will have the option to upload your image on your profile section. This photo will be scaled to fit the dimensions for the Profile page and a thumbnail automatically generated for comments.
