A couple weekends ago, after Travis and I went to look at an apartment, he took me for a ride along Lake Minnetonka’s majestic Crystal Bay. He took me to one of the most beautiful and prestigious gardens in the state – the Noerenberg Gardens. It is located in the north shore of Crystal Bay in Orono. It offers a tranquil retreat to the quiet elegance and grace of days gone by.
Widely regarded as one of the finest formal gardens in Minnesota, this endearing place of endless blooms and enchanted history once was home to Grain Belt Brewery founder Frederick Noerenberg and his family. Noerenberg’s daughter Lora Noerenberg Hoppe bequeathed her family’s estate to Three Rivers Park District in 1972 with the directive that the estate be maintained as a garden for the public’s enjoyment. The park’s formal flower gardens are open for tours, informal viewings and outdoor events. The gardens include a wide variety of unusual annuals and perennials, an assortment and a large day lily collection. The park features accessible brick pathways and an ornamental boathouse/gazebo overlooking the lake. Noerenberg Gardens is the perfect place to sneak away for an evening stroll or a weekend outing. It is an ideal location for shutterbugs with the variety of subjects and beautiful scenic views to capture. The peaceful lakeside setting has made it idyllic location for young couples to wed.
As you stroll through the gardens, you will notice several striking architectural features, many of which are original to the Noerenberg estate. These structures showcase a variety of architectural styles that were popular at the close of the 19th Century. With its distinctive Oriental style, the Noerenberg boathouse/gazebo is a Lake Minnetonka landmark. Boaters often use the boathouse/gazebo as an aid to navigation as they work their way along the lake’s many bays and inlets.
A memorial colonnade now stands in place of the Noerenberg family home, which was razed at the direction of Lora Noerenberg Hoppe when the estate was donated to the park District. The colonnade features a circle of eight white columns on a raised granite foundation. The columns replicate columns that graced one of the mansion’s porches. They encircle a commemorative plaque which reads,
“Noerenberg
Memorial County Park
is Dedicated to the
Use of the Public
in Memory of the
Frederick and Johanna
Noerenberg Family
Who Once Lived Here.”
These are few of the many striking edifices in the park. There are still more to see and for someone who just loves to getaway from the hussle and bustle of the city life, here you will find tranquility and relaxation.
I used to drive back in the Philippines. I drove our own Vanditt which is a suzuki minivan. I love him to death and all my driving skills are tested and harnessed by him. When I came to the US, I am faced with a challenge. I have to drive Travis’ car from Charlotte, North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida for our move. I only have a few hours to practice and it was pretty scary to drive a car with a power steering. That is because Vanditt doesn’t have one.
Knowing more about power steering, power steering rack, power steering box and more made me appreciate the adjustment that I have to make with my driving. It was a good adjustment though. Driving with power steering makes it easier to maneauver and you will definitely have control of your car. This means you can drive safely.
It is important to check on your car every now and then. If you think you are losing the control of your car, you might want to check on your Steering System or the parts that involves power steering. And if you need a place to buy those parts, Power Steering Pros is the right place to check. You can avail high quality parts with affordable price and they offer free delivery as well!
Take care of your car and it will take care of you. And lastly, please drive safely.
I have been following the Minnesota Vikings in their quest for victory for the National Football Leauge (NFL) of 2008. Unfortunately, they have been unsuccessful on their first two games against the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Last Sunday’s game against the Colts has left an unsettling feeling. They have started well with a 15 point lead and an incredibly strong field position. But not until Peyton Manning (Colts’ QB) picked up his momentum and find his rhythm at the right time… yes shortly after the half-time. Then things began to turn sour with the Vikings. They kept kicking field goals (and missed some) when they have a strong field position. They were able to run everywhere but inside the 20. Having this kind of performance, we have very little reason to think that they can squeeze out victory against the opponents that they have to beat if they are serious in competing at the Divisional not to mention the Conference, Championship.
Dressing up in costumes is totally fun especially when you are with friends. I always love it back in the Philippines when I worked in Convergys and we had dress up days. One of those that I participated was the Pirate Day when we had to wear pirate costumes. I dug in my closet and just revised whatever I can find to make it fitting for the theme. Everyone was having fun seeing each other in their attempt to become pirates. It was pretty fun!
During my first visit in the Netherlands, I had the best time during the Carnaval. Everyone would dress up to whatever outfit. It is similar to Halloween only that outfits and costumes are not necessarily scary. That way, me and Manang Rema and Papa Henny’s costumes were courtesy of Tante Ria. She also was the one responsible for our face painting. It was such a blast!
Now that I am here in the US and there’s no Tante Ria to provide me with costume, I need to get my own. And since Halloween is just around the corner, I have to start browsing at different halloween costume stores online. This time, I’m eyeing for sexy woman’s costumes. Afterall, I have grown and become a little mature to wear something sexy or maybe scary this Halloween.
Howabout you? Any plans to go spooky this Halloween?
This sad love song has been playing in my mind since yesterday. This song was from a Filipino Band called Zoo from their Album Zoology. It was sung by Arnel Pineda their lead vocalist now Journey’s lead singer replacing the original lead Steve Perry. Arnel Pineda’s life story is very colorful and if one would take the time to read his biography, you will definitely be inspired and be proud of him for having made it this far.
The song is filled with meaning that it brings back all the good times and bad that Travis and I have been through. The song has brought me back to those years and it has filled me now with so much joy that I have made a good decision of taking the journey of life with him.
Hubby,
I will continue to love you and support you whatever trials we have to face. We have weathered storms and it has made us closer and our love stronger. I am always here by your side. Whether we made good or bad decisions, the important thing is we are together. There’s nothing we cannot do if we are together side by side holding each others hands.
I had very wonderful school days memories especially when I started Kindergarten at the age of 6 when Nanay would always send me to school. Her or my older sister- Madon would always make sure my hair is tied up neatly and I have all the things that I need. I can still remember that I have a tumbler where I kept my juice for break time.
Back to school is always the best part of being a student. Clean and crisp papers and notebooks, brand new pencils, ballpens, crayons and other school materials. Everyone would show off what they got. It’s part of being a student I guess. I can still remember a few of my classmates have their stuff labeled. It was personalized and I wished I had them too. Not only to show off but to make sure my school supplies won’t stray on someone else’s hands.
Nowadays, there is the Dymo Label Makers that makes labeling easy for us whether it is for school, at work or even organizing things at home. These make labeling easy, fun and artistic with Color labels that helps you organize your things. Put it on your kid’s lunch box or label their gym clothing, there are just numerous uses for this label maker.
If I had this when I was in school, I would not only be the envy of the class but I would have certainly secure my schools supplies from sticky fingers.
The Labor Day weekend was known as the unofficial last days of summer. The weather was good with the sun shining just like on normal summer days. We were able to do a lot of things. From harvesting corn to fishing, tubing to riding the 4-wheeler. It was fun when it lasted. But soon after that weekend, the cold wind starts to blow and certainly leaves are starting to change their color. They may not have fallen yet for autumn but you can definitely feel that winter is just around the corner.
It is going to be my first winter here in Minnesota. I don’t know what to expect but it’s better to expect the worse, right? Right now, I am just taking comfort looking at the pictures of our last days of summer.
My sister- Rorie has posted about this tag which she got from DNeero. I actually had fun answering it. Some questions are familiar and I know I have answered them before. But to my surprise, I happen to re-evaluate the answers that I have given. I realized that I have changed. I now prefer croutons over bacon bits. I have 2 more favorite colors aside from pink. And I turned out to be some kinda neat freak!
Thanks to this tag, I am able to re-assess myself and I conclude that life is a neverending discovery of one’s self. Try answering the questions yourself and give us a glimpse of you through the tag.
Blogging and having online small business has become popular nowadays. Many of you may have started off having your blog under a free web hosting service. Nothing is really free and that applies online. For any free hosting provider like Blogger for example, there are always trade-offs for receiving free web hosting. One of that for example is you are giving up your web presence by giving up your domain name. If you have your own domain name but continues to host it on free web hosting provider, you have given up to their trade-offs. These includes limited web space, advertisements on your web page that can draw away your visitors, limited features, and limited programming capabilities. And another thing, you will have to conform to the free host’s programming requirements, which may be limited to only one style of programming. Your features and capabilities for web design will likely be very limited.
Having mentioned the disadvantages of having a free web hosting service, I am very pleased having my own domain hosted on a paid web hosting service. I not only have the freedom to secure as much space as I want but I can develop content pages in the design that suits my needs and my style. It also gives me full control of the content of my site. And I can get a professional, domain-branded email address if I want to.
Now if you are starting to consider web hosting, you will need to know which paid hosting service provides cheap, practical and reliable service. For starters, you will need web host rating for you to see which web hosting provider is the best among the others. I’d refer you to www.webhostingrating.com to compare host services against each other and see how they are rated based on the customer satisfaction, affordability, reliability, uptime and techical support. You can also find out which of them has received awards of recognition based on performance, price and other categories. Not only that, their website is filled with articles to give you knowledge to help you maximize the potential of your website. If your in for the money online, the article Internet Advertising – Making Money With Your Website will fill you with knowledge and give you points on how to earn online.
So if you mean serious business, when you want to affirm yourself as a professional in your field, go buy a hosting plan that has a domain included in the price and make a serious start.

“There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year’s course.Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word ‘happy’ would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”
This is my journey to life – an interdependence of actions and dreams.
I love to travel. It’s how I learned to become more accepting.
I love my friends. They brought so much color to my living.
