pumpkincarving Jack O Lanterns and Trick or TreatingTravis & Jacy’s Jack O’ Lanterns

First of all, I would like to greet everyone a Happy Halloween!  Whether you are dressing up for some Halloween Party, bringing your kids for Trick or Treating or simply staying at home waiting for Trick or Treaters to come, this holiday is one of the busy holidays of the year.

Travis and I carved our pumpkins last Sunday.  It was my very first and I regretted choosing a difficult pattern.  My first masterpiece turned out to be a some-what disaster.  If you noticed, my cat only has 1 whisker and I almost poked her eyeballs out.  But in the end, it still looks pretty good especially when the candle is lit inside it.

Open Season

October31

openseason Open Season

Some people like to go to the Alps to experience the heights and enjoy rush of adrenaline as they go slide with their skis or boards.  Other people prefer to lay on the beach under the sun to relax themselves.  Some would want to lay back and enjoy gazing at the stars at night.  While there are others who prefer to hunt and enjoy the primitive camping in the boonies with friends while keeping a close eye on their game species.

We are all different in so many ways and it applies to what we enjoyed doing and what we prefer doing.  For those people who enjoy hunting, November 8 has already been marked in their calendar for the start of the Open Season for Deer Hunting.  Hunting surely stirs the curiosity of those who doesn’t take part of it like myself.  Why would anyone (about half a million in Minnesota) sit for hours in a chilly duck blind?  And what’s the thrill in trying to kill an animal anyway?

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

October30

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when TS took me for a ride.  We went to the Asian Store to buy some of my ingredients for the Pancit Canton that I am going to bring for Betty’s Retirement Party the following day.  After we got what I needed, he took me to a town called Belle Plaine where Emma Krumbees Orchard and Farm is situated.

When the Snow Falls

 When the Snow Falls

Saying goodbye to summer doesn’t also mean saying adieu to enjoyable outdoor activities.  For when the snow finally decides to fall and stick to the ground, the fun can begin. And when it does, there are a variety of activities that involve being outside in the snow.

Snowboarding and skiing are the typical ways to enjoy the snow.  Being on the slopes is an amazing rush. This is a fun-filled activity that is also a great form of exercise.

Can You Believe It?

October27

October 26, 2008.  Sunday.  When we woke up yesterday and looked outside the window, Travis noticed that there are a few snow showers that only seemed dust.  Is it safe to consider it as the first snow fall for this winter?  I was doubtful.  It wasn’t that much and it is just a wet snow.

I spent the next couple hours cooking Pancit for the Retirement Party of our On-site Manager – Betty.  I am not used to cooking for a lot of people so I must admit I am a little bit stressed out.  While I was working my way to finish my dish, Travis called out to me and said, “more snow”!  I looked towards the glass door and true enough, it was snowing.  Big snowflakes that if the ground is not warm, it would already stay there.  I really got excited to see my first now here in the US!  And surely I will see more of it in the next coming years.

That snowfall yesterday was just the beginning.  Looks like I will have lots of snow to fill my heart’s contentment.  For as early as now, it has just begun…

Leftover Spaghetti Pasta?

October25

2588665 Leftover Spaghetti Pasta?Last night, I prepared Spaghetti Meatballs (Beef Balls actually) for dinner. I have no special techniques in preparing it. I Just did the typical and sensible style of cooking the pasta and the sauce. It actually turned out pretty well. I’ve never seen Travis dumped a huge portion of it on his plate. And to prove his satisfaction of the dish, he actually brought some for his lunch at work.

Last night was just an almost perfect performance. I ran short on my estimation on the amount of pasta to cook which leaves me with some leftover cooked spaghetti pasta. I don’t want to throw it away so I just have to figure out a way to use it for my lunch. I just grabbed whatever I can find both in the fridge and in my pantry. And here’s what I came up with…

Photo Calendars: A Gift or To Keep?

1 Photo Calendars: A Gift or To Keep?

Christmas is the time of giving and sharing.  It is no longer a wonder that every year we would always come to point of getting confused what to give to a particular friend.  Having lots of friends Is a blessing but it sure challenging to figure out what is the best gift for them.

How about a personalized gift of Photo Calendars?  It is like a representation that you will always be there for them day after day, in the months to come and the year ahead.  Just the thought of that makes me excited.  I remember I gave Travis a Photo Desk Calendar in one of our BF-GF Anniversaries.  It cost me so much to have it made and personalized with our own photo.  But this year, I have become smarter and I know where to go to when I needed prints.

Little Gifts

October23

000000 Little GiftsI am not a material person.  I prefer affection and attention more than tangible things.  But it would be hyprocrisy if I say I dont’ want gifts.  Who doesn’t want to receive gifts?  Like they said, it’s the thought that counts so every little thing whether it’s a collected dry leaf from autumn or a random stone from somewhere, as long as they are given, it will be greatly appreciated and it would make me very happy.

While I was buy cleaning the house the entire day today and making the house almost smell like bleach, Travis was on an errand to buy me a Birthday Card for a friend who will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow.  I know it’s gonna arrive late for her but as they said, “Better late than never”.  When Travis arrived home, he surprised me with two little gifts that means something to me.  He bought me a Pumpkin Carving Kit so I can carve my first pumpkin ever.  Then he bought me a Peace and Tranquility Oil Burder Set which I have always wanted.

Small little things that are very precious for me.  It is what these gifts represents that matters to me.  It is the fact that he thought of me each day and giving me something without occasion.  My heart is filled with joy and I feel loved!

“There are as many nights as days, and the one is just as long as the other in the year’s course.Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word ‘happy’ would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness.”

This is my journey to life – an interdependence of actions and dreams.

I love to travel.  It’s how I learned to become more accepting.

I love my friends.  They brought so much color to my living.

I love my family.  They have never stopped giving.

I love my life.  I never ceased growing.
