Remember The Moffatts?

September21

Travis decided to turn the radio on to break the silence when we were driving back home from Fergus Falls after attending Dad and Sandi’s Reception.  When the Spice Girls’ Wanna Be song played, I recalled that it was my first casette tape ever purchased having The Moffatts Chapter I: A New Beginning album being the second.  Now it gets me to wonder, what happened to The Moffatts?

When I asked my walking google (Travis) about it, he couldn’t give me an answer.  He doesn’t even know the band nor their songs.  Even the mention of the Hanson brothers being their similar group or I should say rival group at that time doesn’t ring a bell to him.  I can’t believe that the group The Moffatts which was very popular in the Philippines back in the late 90′s is unheard of here in the US.

The Moffatts were a Canadian country music and subsequently pop/rock band, composed of brothers Scott, Clint, Bob and Dave Moffatt. Eldest brother Scott was born on March 30, 1983 in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Less than a year later, on March 8, 1984, triplets Bob, Clint and Dave were born in Vancouver. Although born on the same date, Bob and Clint are identical twins while Dave is a fraternal triplet.

Their hit singles include I Miss You Like Crazy, I’ll Be There for You, Girl of My Dreams and If Life is So Short to name a few.  They definitely have rocked the charts with these hits.  I can recall that I was still in 1st year college when they become popular.   Clearly, talent and the passion for music runs in their blood.

Unfortunately, their popularity was short-lived.  The group broke up in August 2001.

you know how the Filipinos love music not to mention good looks. so when they weren’t able to penetrate the US charts- barely known here in the US, they ventured across the continent and across the pacific ocean too. so they landed on the philippines. and the filipinos just accepted them graciously just like how we did with the Menudo. dugaya na sad ato sa? fyi, kinder pa sad ko ato…(so don’t say i am too old).
