Vikings: It’s About Time

Frerotte To Lead the Charge
I have been following the Minnesota Vikings in their quest for victory for the National Football Leauge (NFL) of 2008. Unfortunately, they have been unsuccessful on their first two games against the Green Bay Packers and the Indianapolis Colts.
Last Sunday’s game against the Colts has left an unsettling feeling. They have started well with a 15 point lead and an incredibly strong field position. But not until Peyton Manning (Colts’ QB) picked up his momentum and find his rhythm at the right time… yes shortly after the half-time. Then things began to turn sour with the Vikings. They kept kicking field goals (and missed some) when they have a strong field position. They were able to run everywhere but inside the 20. Having this kind of performance, we have very little reason to think that they can squeeze out victory against the opponents that they have to beat if they are serious in competing at the Divisional not to mention the Conference, Championship.
I have noticed that not only on last Sunday’s game but also on their first NFL Season game against the Packers that the Vikings’ passing game is absolutely not well desired. It doesn’t take a Football expert to see it. Is it the lack of the individual players’ talent? Or is it the the coach’s lack of game plan? Whatever it is, something needs to be done.
Yesterday, Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress has made a big announcement that could change the path of the Viking’s quest for winning. He has given the responsibility to Gus Frerotte to lead the team as the new quarterback putting behind Tarvaris Jackson out of the starting. If all goes according to plan and Frerotte will carry what is expected of him which is to stabilize the quarterback situation of the Vikings, he will be playing at 14 games this season- something he hasn’t done since 2005 when he was playing for the Miami Dolphins.
It’s about time! A decision was made that something needed to change. Whether the right decision was made or not remains to be seen. But one thing is certain, the Vikings locker room will unite behind the new signal caller.

go vikings! go vikings! go!
forgive me, but I don’t know how football is played so I will just cheer…as long as I know the color of their uniforms. heheh!
