What a Month It Was!

February4

occasion 021 813x1024 What a Month It Was!I have been working for 3 weeks now.  Wow!  Time sure flies so fast.  But I still continue to take on the day to day challenges of my work.  I can definitely say I am doing pretty fine.  I was told by the seniors that I picked up pretty fast and is now doing what the people who are already there for 1 year are doing.  It is these kind of remarks that inspire me and make me continue the good work that I have done.

It was on my 1st week that I was taught how to do faxes.  It is something that I enjoy doing.  I was glad to be assigned to do it coz it gives me more time off the phone.  I must admit I am still not very confident on the phone and my English surely needs some sharpening.

On the second week, me and my colleagues were very pleased when our Company ID was released.  Before we got it, we have to register ourselves in the reception and the line is usually long on Mondays.  There was in fact 1 time that it took me 40 minutes to get inside the door.  So, it was very sweet when we got our IDs.

Third week came and I was trained to do reactivations.  It is a very delicate task.  One wrong move and it’ll cost the company lots of money.  At first, I was hesitant to take the task.  But I thought to myself, if they assigned it to me, they surely believe that I can handle it.  So, I took the challenge and now I’m enjoying reactivations.  I even stayed longer at work today to do a reactivation.

When the third week came, I got a voicemail from my recruiter.  I was wondering why she called.  When I listened to the voicemail, she was excited to inform me our Manager decided to increase my base pay.  What’s more is that it was not just a dollar!  I didn’t expect it but I sure am glad they have seen my efforts and my capabilities.

I have come to think to continue showing off at the workplace.  Showing off isn’t about bragging or arrogance.  As Joe Calloway puts it:

” Showing off simply means bringing your best to everything that you do. It’s about being focused and working with the intention of creating results that benefit the stakeholders in any given situation. Showing off means creating value through accomplishment.”

January was definitely the month that I was blessed.  And February will hopefully bring good things if not better for me.  And as months go by, I may start to entertain the ideas of extended stay hotels to dwell in either Iowa or other places that we will choose to explore.
