Our Family’s Pride
He has always been different. Even before when he was still a baby, he has manifested the qualities of being smart. It makes me smile to recall that at an early age of two, he already know who invented the telescope, the monetary unit of japan and 20 more trivias like that. Not only that he possesses sheer intelligence; he too is very talented. He can sing, dance and yes act. He has the looks to back it all up.
He finished his elementary at Holy Rosary School of Pardo and studied in Pope John XXIII Seminary in Mabolo for his secondary education. He has developed his confidence without being braggart. In the surface, he’s shy but cool. But he knows what he is capable of and he knows what he can achieve.
Last June 1 and 2, after graduating the Bachelors Degree of Nursing at Cebu Normal University, he took the Board Exam. It is one brave task for anyone who would take it. After the controversies that the Philippine Board of Licensure has been affiliated with, it is a tension for each and everyone of them. As a sign of support, my family made a simultaneous prayer vigil for him. There’s nothing more we can do to help and show our support to him but through prayers which has been the key foundation of our family.
Today, at around 10:30am, somebody broke to me the news. My sister-Madon who is in Georgia was screaming on top of her lungs while saying something. Something that I think is so important but I could not grasp it because of the series of screams that she had. I have to dissect each phrases and couldn’t contain myself when I heard what the news was about.
- Licensure Exam results
He did it! He passed the Nursing Licensure Exams! I still couldn’t believe it. I have mixed emotions. There was a feeling of nervousness but it is overcome by the feeling of happiness. I start to think of Nanay and Tatay and what their reaction would be when they know that they finally have a Registered Nurse in the family. I thought of Manoy (Fr. Brandit) whose support to Linus in pursuing his career was immeasurable. I thought of Mommy Raquel who worrries when Linus is home late and would never hesitate to send and get him from his hospital duties. I thought of my sisters who share my same feelings or even much more. I thought of Linus and how happy he must be bringing pride and joy to our family and most of all to himself.
The baby in the family… my supposedly “rival” of attention… our only little brother has brought our family’s success. We are so proud of you, Dong! Congratulations and we love you!
Linus’ Trivia:
- When he was a baby, he doesn’t want to walk barefoot so Tatay has to carry him.
- His first learned song was Louie Herdia’s “Nag-iisang Ikaw”.
- He attended 3 schools in Elementary: University of Souther Philippines (USP), CBD Institute of Learning (CBD-IL) and Holy Rosary School of Pardo (HRSP).
- During his Elementary Graduation, he was caught on video head-banging to the tune of the Graduation march while the other kids are getting their diploma.
- He was a soccer football player when he attented Pope John XXIII Seminary.
- He currently works in Starbucks while waiting for his oath-taking.
- He plans to serve his country first with his profession.
naghilak gyud ko jacy nagbasa ani nga blog…..you really put it in writting……those words i can not express!!!! Basta i am so proud of him……and i can see the smile together with the sound i heard on the phone…..so happy for him…..and for the wonderful feeling that he gave us ever since!

he has always been a blessing mama no? it’s a unified happiness for all of us. until now, i am still pinching myself to see if i’m not just dreaming. i’m so happy i really am! we are so proud of him.

Yeah!!! Linus give so much joy to the family the time he was born and now that he made it to his nursing board exam. I am so proud of my baby.
I thank God for this wonderful blessing to our family. He did answer our prayers.

I must have cried so much already earlier that when I read your blog I only had watery-eyes. Yes, he has always been the family’s joy. A gift! Remember, pinangayo biya gyud na sya because Nanay and Tatay were hoping for another baby boy. Like I said in the past, mao sad gyud na sya ang akong ulion sa balay- coz when he was born, I was in Grade 3. I was so proud nga nana koy lain nga manghod so when I came home that afternoon I brought my classmates along with me. And he was a very handsome little boy.

Nanlimbawot gud akong balhibo pagkabasa ani nga blog ang mga comments ninyong sisters makatandog sa dughan kahilakon man pod ko gamay ninyo oi, ka sweet ninyo nga pagka sisters…..Sus grabe gud inyong love & support ni Linus todo….. You are blessed family nga duna moy Linus.
Nag imagine ko karon kon unsa mo ka happy ni ” shout for joy” gud siguro mo or labaw pa ana.
Nakahinumdum ko sa una nga tagsa ra kaayo ni nako makit-an si Linus kay mao diay naning kaayo sa school, nya medyo mag pagka shy pa, makit-an rani nako kon mo host sa activities together with his sisters. Karon here he is nagbunga iyang paningkamot nga makahuman sa pag eskwela, dili lang na…. gihimo nya nga proud ang iyang family pinaagi sa pag pass sa board exam, nana gud certified nurse ang Bohol Tabalin Family. Gikan sa kamagwangan hangtod sa kamanghuran nga utukan gud.

I enjoy reading n here, I feel like I also celebrate with your success. I remembered those tyms nga mauli si Linus sa inyo, ang mga dagang gagmay kay magsabay-sabay dayon basin man lang intawon pasiplatan lag tan-aw ni Linus, pero ang inyong charming Linus deadma kau.
