Dutch Street Food: Patat Oorlog

Patat Zoner (Lone Fries)

If there’s one reason why I would like to go back and visit The Netherlands soon, it’s gonna be their delicious street food.  Unlike the Philippines, Dutch Street Foods do not consist of bizarre and exotic  dish but  consists of the usual fries topped with special sauces and a variety of their deep fried goodness.  Don’t get me wrong, I do love our street foods and I have my usual cravings for it too.  But today, I just happen to crave for my favorite food from the Netherlands- Patat Oorlog.

100 2000 150x150 Dutch Street Food: Patat OorlogThe best Patat Oorlog that I have  ever tasted was from Febo.  It is a fast-food place where you can order in the counter fries with your choice of sauce or some other products in their menu.  The other products can be bought from the vending machine inside the place for those people who are always on the go.  Patat Oorlog is simply fries seasoned with salt and their special seasoning ( I still have to find out!) topped with Frite Sauce (mayonaisse) and Sate Sauce (peanut butter sauce).  I always like mine with chopped onions on top of it.  Mmmm… just the thought of it makes my mouth water.

Some people find Fries and Mayo strange.  I’m sure many will find this fries combination stranger.  But once you get to try it, you will love it!  I will have to make my own version here at home until I can go back to the Netherlands once again.

i remember we had that on our way to the Drie Landen Punt. you prefer the one on the bakje instead of the sakje (the one in the cone) though coz you don’t like soggy french fries. i miss those times dah!

    jacy,

i need to tell you something about multiply and photos if you don’t know it
already. they changed the zoom. it’s what they call the new zoom now.
the problem with this is when it comes to full body screen shots like we
used for multiply themes. they won’t work anymore. what happens
is that it zooms in only a little bit, not the whole page like you got before.
i got several complaints from people, a couple of theme authors included,
about this so i now do my screen shots using paint again. it’s the only way
you can see the full zoom on a screen shot. people are starting to upload
themes there again and i was wondering what to do. if i do it with paint
i have to upload the pics one by one. this is nuts!

    hello Deb!

we were gone for the weekend and spent it in Fergus Falls. i checked on the new zoom that you find alarming. i could be wrong but i haven’t notice any problem.

    i hope you’ll have a good week!

    jacy,

it works well on most things. it’s only on full body screen shots of themes.
those don’t zoom to the full page anymore, only a small zoom. the problem
with that is that folks can’t view the details in a theme, especially when a theme
is made with black or dark colors. i will post one for you so you can see it. maybe
they’ve changed it so i will have to check it out. i only know that i received
complaints from people who couldn’t view my themes very well.

    have a nice week hon.

    hello Deb!

i think i get what you mean.
so they don’t zoom it to the original high resolution i see.
too bad. i have seen the two screenshots that you made.
multiply is probably being cheap. hehehe!

    hi jacy,

yup probably. but we are paying for this. shouldn’t we have
the old zoom? maybe i will write customer service and mention it.
the worst they can say is no or maybe they will think about it
or maybe they will even say hey that’s a good idea. never know.

it’s not cool though. how am i supposed to post in multiply themes now?
i noticed that a few folks put in new themes and all they did was the
banner, the paint way, so you get a better screen shot. but if
i put in only the banner no one sees the rest of theme. ?

    hello Deb!

i think it’s a good idea that you should write Customer Service. i just felt that having Zoom In available for everyone made me feel like we are paying for nothing. since we are paying, we should have at least an edge among others like the real high definition zoom view right? tell me how they respond to this.

as for multiplythemes.com, we are temporarily using that for now. we have gotten a few bids to develop it but not very good ones yet. just post themes the way you used it. we will have the full body resolution if they click the paint thumbnail.

    hello Leng!

glad to see you stopping by. at first i thought it was weird. but when i tried it, it’s actually pretty good. i in fact would rather order it instead of just mayo or ketchup. but it’s not just peanut butter ha… it’s a mixture that made it a sauce so it’s not really that strong peanut butter taste.
