Foreign Accent Syndrome
It is typical for me not to sound so American since I was not born nor raised here in the US. But howabout a pure-breed American who never left the United States or Canada but speaks in a very different foreign accent?
CindyLou Romberg sounds like she could be from any number of exotic countries around the world. She sometimes rolls her “R”s like a Russian, chops syllables like a German or turns an unsuspecting “W” into a “V,” like a Swede. But Romberg is not Russian, German or Swedish. In fact, she has never even left her tiny hometown of Port Angeles, Washington.
Foreign Accent Syndrome is a rare medical condition that usually occurs as a rare side effect of severe brain injury, such as a stroke or a head injur. As the name implies, it causes its sufferers to speak as if they came from another country.
Watch the video to hear it for yourself. If you still think (like other people) that she is acting it out, we’ll I should say she deserves an Oscar for the act!

Wow, darn strange! but then, how cool is that to speak foreign words without ever learning it. The video reminds me of the movie “Phenomenon” starring John Travolta. One day he saw a blinding light, the next day he turned genius. It turned out he has a very bad case of brain tumor.
