holiday 001 Port of Entry: Brussels, BELGIUM

Now I’m all packed with 1 checked in baggage and 1 carry-on backpack. I am anxious to leave. I have been feeling sick since yesterday. My anxiety was probably because I won’t be with my Hubby for a long time and I’m just not used to it. Another reason would be my experiment of having a port of entry other than the country that issued me a Visa.

Yes, I’m flying to Brussels, Belgium via mom’s airline- US Airways. My sister and her family will be meeting me there. But before I could enjoy their company, I have to go through the standard procedure of flying as a “Non-Rev” or a Non-Revenue passenger. Non-Revenue Passenger typically refers to an airline employee, or family member of an airline employee, who is utilizing their travel benefits to fly on a standby basis at no cost, or at a substantially reduced cost. Another term would be Interline Travel.

This would definitely answer your questions why I’m travelling so soon without much prep. Flying on Easter is very ideal as most people would stay at home or are already in the place where they want to be to celebrate Easter with their family or friends. When we checked on the number of seats available, it was just the best time to fly.

So, why am I flying to Brussels instead of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, The Netherlands? The answer is that Brussels is actually closer to where Mama Rema lives since they are living in Meerssen which is on the southernmost part of the Netherlands in the province of Limburg. And they have more seats available in comparison to the flights to Amsterdam.

In a few minutes, Travis will be driving me to the airport and it will be my last sight of Jacksonville. I will be writing about it in one of my next entries. So, this is it. Tot straks alemaal!
