Taylors Falls: A Village on the River

June24

Last weekend, Travis and I spent quality time together seeing places.  We explored the places where Travis was raised and spent his growing years.  We went to the western suburbs of Minnetonka, Excelsior, Mound, Spring Park and even farther west to Watertown.  It was not my first time to visit the area except for Watertown.  Travis and I drove to it last year after we attended the Budke-Jorgenson Reunion.  This trip was different though because we had more time to stop and find our way without the fear of being lost.

A cruise along St. Croix river in Taylor's Falls.

The next day, we drove around the Birthplace of America – Stillwater.  Travis thought that it is nice to drive to Taylors Falls afterwards as I am a big nature lover.  The name itself was already pleasing to my ear.  So, I did not hesitate.  The drive towards Taylors Falls was pleasant.  The view was beautiful and when we finally arrived there, it was just how I expected.  It was beautiful!

Seeing the gigantic rocks bring back my childhood fascination of climbing big rocks. Although I was not dressed up for it, my slip-ons did not stop me from doing my long time fascination. Jumping from one rock to the other, making your own path between them or simply following the trails that go through it was very enjoyable. There was a part of the park that brings Ice Age come to life with a kid-friendly interpretative path among fascinating pothole erosion in solid rock. Some of these are up to 60 feet deep and 10 feet wide, with cool names like “Bottomless Pit” and “Devil’s Parlor” (these deep ones are well marked, with railings for safety). It was not only the rocks that gives the place its magnificence. It was the beautiful flowing of St. Croix river which has its own rich and colorful history. Who could image that this river used to carry logs to Stillwater.

Taylors Falls was inhabited by the Swedes in the early years. It must’ve reminded them of where they came from. They probably fell in love with the place which is actually how I felt towards it. There are still more sites to see in this tiny town and a lot of activities to do. We didn’t get to do all of them so we have more reasons to come back. It was one great weekend and I will always look forward to visiting that village on the river.

    jacy,
    was just looking at the pics of you and your hubby. they are awesome and
    you are one very pretty woman you know. hope all is well with you and
    things are going okay for you and your hubby. made a theme today
    but it was easy and didn’t give me any problems because i only changed
    a couple of things and took it from the css of a theme that was saved
    prior to all the trouble. it’s better and you can get a theme in now
    but they are still working on it. at least i can do something though and
    that feels good.

    so sweety, what’s up with you?

    hugz

    The first time I saw your pictures I was already captivated. Yes Momita, I would like to visit you guys one day. But then that would mean that you will have to take me to this village too okay? Summer should be the perfect time…coz I love to bathe in the river…or will I be allowed to do that?

    Hi Manang Ror!
    I can’t wait to share the beauty of Minnesota. Now I know why Travis missed it so much while we were in Florida. When you come and visit us, no doubt we will take you to all these places especially Taylors Falls. If you come here by summer, we can enjoy the State Fair too! yikes!

    jacy,

    okay this a little confusing. a couple of months ago they put in new base
    themes but the css for the base themes still works.–i guess there was
    little bit of trouble (nothing new here) when they did that and the
    base themes have some quirks in them anyway. missy’s been working
    on that. the css that’s up in Mulitply Design seems to be okay. that’s
    about all i can tell you for base themes. i noticed a few changes
    in the base themes: for one in blue slate, remember the harsh
    blue shadow that was underneat the item boxes? that has changed
    to a softer shadow, much nicer. there was a couple of other things
    that i can’t remember now. i have been using the base themes that
    are there when i make a theme and have had no trouble. there is
    still an issue with the css parser (whatever the heck that is) but the
    validator is alright. we are finding our way around this too lol.

    one thing i can tell you: i divownernav–do not put border: none;
    it causes extra line breaks and spaces and the width and height
    to be removed in that portion of your code–psychotic came up
    with this and it works: border: 4px solid none;

    lots of hugz

    jacy,

    the 4px solid none; thing works like a charm for
    the border and your height and width don’t get
    stripped in the divownernav and your navbar.

    what’s a parser?

    those are a lot of things to pay attention to. i just happen to not have he patience as of this moment to examine every details and test CSS for the new updates. i’m glad you are here to keep me up to it.

    jacy,

    i know you’ve got a lot to do. if you want to me i’d be glad to check
    your themes for you and fix whatever parts don’t fit with the validator.
    then you would have validated themes. i need things to do anyway,
    unlike most people. being on disability gives me a lot of time. believe
    me it would not be putting me out at all. i promise i will not change anything.
    usually the reason something won’t validate is because of a missed semi colon
    or something like that. oh–commments don’t work anymore-i will copy and paste
    it so it makes more sense to you.

    For example: psychotic

    .quotet {
    -moz-border-radius: 0px;
    background-image: none;
    background: #ffffff;
    border: 1px dotted #397D02;

    /*This color changes all quotets*/ <——-comments within a block (%elements) that breaks it up
    color: #DC143C;
    margin: 5px;
    }

    jacy,

    okay you can be mad as hell at me if you wish but i went to multiply themes
    and copied and pasted the css from your themes. i’ve checked 16 of the 32 that
    are there so far. the only problems in them was an extra bracket here or there or
    missing semicolons, no biggy. so i removed the extra brackets and added the missing
    semi colons. you now have 16 themes that are validated.

    then i went to my yahoo briefcase account and made a folder with
    your name on it. i called it Themes by Simply Jacy. i uploaded the 16
    validated themes to that folder. this way you will always have a backup of
    all your css online.

    i have mine backed up in two places.

    right now i am going to take a break because my whole body
    is very sore. will get the other 16 soon.

    love u!
    deb

    p.s.
    i hope we are still friends.

    jacy,

    okay i hope you aren’t going to be mad when you see my last
    two posts. all of your 32 themes that i found at Multiply Themes
    are now validated. I uploaded all of them to my Yahoo Briefcase
    plus a zipped version of it. now they are stored permanently online.
    you will never lose the validated css.

    jacy,

    you are very welcome and i’m glad you’re not mad at me. i didn’t
    wait for you to answer my question when i asked if you wanted me
    to check your themes. i know how busy you are and that you didn’t
    see ts for than a month and missed him terribly. it’s only right that
    you spend time with him now and take care of first things first,
    like a job. i am praying that God will send you the perfect job
    with good pay and benefits. i uploaded a zip copy of your themes
    to my windows live skydrive account too. now it’s online in two
    places. i am not counting on either one of them failing but
    just to be safe i have all my css in two places. i stopped burning
    it onto cd’s. that was a never ending job and a pain in the neck.
    i couldn’t keep up with myself lol. not making themes willy nilly anymore
    like a i was–i figured it’s better to do a really good theme once in awile than
    it is to do a whole lot of themes. sometimes i get to feeling weird cuz i don’t
    seem to be keeping up with a lot of other theme authors but then i noticed
    that there are other theme authors who don’t post all the time either. and when
    they do come up with a theme, it’s really awesome and well done, not some haphazrd
    hurried job.

    hope you are having a nice day today and i send you lots of hugz and prayerz
    and wishez for a great weekend. love u!
